The demos were completed in Japan, and the recording took place at New York's Waterfront Studios (as with the previous album, engineered by Steve Linsley). Recorded over a two-month stay in New York, in a spacious, warehouse-like studio, with equipment and methods different from those used in Japan, this album delivers a dry, inorganic sound (several live shows were also held in New York at the time).
