Nautilus, NAUTILUS has firmly established themselves as a key presence in Japan's rare groove scene, always pushing forward with their evolving sound. Their latest project now kicks off with a killer cover of Diana King's 'Shy Guy,' featuring their trusted ally 'Emi Tawata,' who has also drawn attention with her covers of Des'ree and Terri Walker. Retaining the pulse of the original beat, this jazz-rooted arrangement feels tailor-made for the late-night dancefloor. On the flip side is an outstanding instrumental cover of Roy Ayers' timeless 'Mystic Voyage,' a tribute to the legendary artist who sadly passed away this spring. With this single, anticipation builds for the upcoming 10th album from NAUTILUS, a band carrying the torch for the future of rare groove. Formed in 2014 by drummer Toshiyuki Sasaki, NAUTILUS is a new-generation funk band that blends jazz, funk, disco, soul, and hip-hop into a diverse sound palette. Inspired by Bob James' classic track 'Nautilus' and intertwined with the imagery of the real-life submarine Nautilus, the group has pursued a 70s rare groove sound while crafting a deep, immersive musical world that pulls listeners into the depths of the ocean.
