DUB ISLOMANIA | VINYL RECORD (LP)

Harikuyamaku, In Tokyo in 2021, I had the rare opportunity to DJ only HARIKUYAMAKU songs. Normally, I carry a fair amount of equipment such as effects and mixers to do live dub mixes, but this time I was doing a DJ set. However, I thought that playing only songs that I had already completed, regardless of whether they were released or not, was not interesting for me as a DJ. So, for the two days before the flight, I recorded dub mixes of various songs, burned them onto a CD-R and took them with me. When I returned to Okinawa and listened to the CD-R again, I felt that it was rough in many ways, but I thought it was good including that! So I decided to distribute it. That was 'Shima DUBPLATE for Tokyo 2021'. Then, more time passed, and it was 2024. I was told that they would make this into a record. It's great! It's great, but there are some songs that are a shame to make it into a record, and some that are lacking. Streaming and recording are different things. Since it was a two-mix recording in one take, I thought I had no choice but to layer it. I chose songs from a CD-R, A2 'Ayahaberu' has a flute solo overdubbed by my good friend MAKI TAFARI. A4 'Turubaimun' was toasted by AKANMIMAN. It was his first recording. B1 'Kuduchi Behshi' overdubbed spring reverb noise and synths. I also recorded a new dub mix for the record. A3 'Pacific Dub' is a dub mix of Yoshimichi Ishigaki 's 'Key Stone', which I personally consider to be the best song in Okinawa reggae history, with a reworked rhythm. B4 'Dub Season' is a dub mix of ' Shiki Kudouchi', which was also co-written with his friend Yukino Inamine. Text by HARIKUYAMAKU Artist Profile Music producer/dub engineer/DJ born in Nishihara, Urasoe City, Okinawa Prefecture in 1989. Started music as a bassist at the age of 14, and after several overseas trips and Shikoku pilgrimages, he began to experience Okinawa with fresh eyes and ears. In 2012, he released the album 'Shima DUB', which features dub arrangements of old Okinawan songs. He has since been active in bands such as Churashima Navigator, Isatooment, angama, and Gintendan. In 2023, he will be in charge of the music for the WOWOW drama series 'Fence', and on November 3rd of the same year, he will release the album ' Mystic Islands Dub', which is a dub mix of carefully selected Okinawan old songs from ' Okinawa Ongaku Souran' (1965) arranged and performed by Gintendan.
