Tideland, Record Day 2025 Day2 Item A newly formed Rocksteady/Reggae band Tideland, produced by Akihito Masui, is releasing their debut 7-inch vinyl! Akihito Masui, a foundational figure in Japan's reggae/dub scene and member of MUTE BEAT, has brought together a cross-generational lineup: chanson singer EMI Takahashi (active in Tokyo's chanson bars), guitarist Dai Okumura, drummer Kazushi Nakata, keyboardist Kamogawa, and trumpeter Rasta Aarai. This new band kicks off in 2025! With EMI Takahashi's rare and androgynous velvet voice, combined with Masui's production blending Rocksteady, Reggae, and Dub, Tideland creates a unique sonic world that feels both nostalgic and futuristic. Their debut release features two tracks: Side A: A cover of 'Karatachinomichi', a beautiful and bittersweet classic by THE BOOM, beloved across generations. Side B: 'Hanikandemo', an original chanson by EMI Takahashi, rearranged in a Reggae/Rocksteady style. Recorded and mixed with care at flowerhistory studio, nestled in a bamboo grove in Chiba and operated by takashiishiwata, with mastering by Yuka Koizumi (Orange). This release is perfect for both home listening and DJ/selector sets. Tideland Members: Akihito Masui (Trombone, Melodion): A living legend of Japan's reggae scene, known for his work with MUTE BEAT and Codex Barbes. Emi Takahashi (Vocals): Chanson singer whose previous collaboration 'Shiroi Koibito-tachi' with a Rocksteady band became a smash hit. Dai Okumura (Guitar): Known for his refined playing, vocalist/guitarist of wash?, and contributor to many works including those of Gen Ueda. Kazushi Nakata (Drums): Drummer of The BERSERKERS, a notable young 12-member reggae band. Kamogawa (Keyboard): Keyboardist of The BERSERKERS, a notable young 12-member reggae band. Rasta Aarai (Trumpet): Also active as a Rocksteady selector, hosts monthly event 'COCONUT ROCK' at reggae/dub club OPEN. takashiishiwata (Bass & Engineering): Multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer, plays guitar, piano, Chapman Stick, and more. When will I receive a tracking number?
We provide tracking for every order. Tracking will be available once your product is shipped. All of our products are shipped out of our warehouse in Westlake Village, CA.
