The Gathering is a Dutch alternative rock band founded in 1989 by brothers Hans and René Rutten and vocalist Bart Smits. The early incarnation of the band featured a much more death and doom metal-based style than the more atmospheric rock and experimental music which they became known for over the years, having enjoyed a highly successful career globally to date. The band recorded 2 demos initially before making their studio debut with 'Always...' (1992).'Almost a Dance' was the second studio album by the band, released originally in 1993 on Foundation 2000 Records. The album was produced by Tom Holkenborg who became famous as Junkie XL. On this album, The Gathering left death growls and their death-doom influences aside, in favour of a more progressive rock/metal sound with clean vocals, and a strong foundation for what the band would continue to evolve into, which is clearly apparent in the guitar arrangements and sublime soundscapes created. This edition of 'Almost a Dance' is presented on the vinyl format, featuring the original cover artwork, plus full lyrics.

Shipping Time:

Once your order ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking information.

Out of Stock Items (Backorder Queue)
If an item is currently unavailable, you’ll see the option to “Join Backorder Queue.”
Here’s how it works:
Join the queue for the record you want.
When it comes back in stock, customers are notified in the order they joined.
If inventory is limited, notifications are sent in batches.
When you receive a notification, you’ll have a limited window (typically 24 hours) to complete your purchase before it moves to the next person in line - IF inventory is limited.
Joining the queue does NOT require payment.
This system ensures fairness and prevents overselling.
Release Updates
If an upcoming title has a scheduled release date (pre-order items), the product page will reflect the most current expected timeline.
If release dates change, the product page will be updated accordingly. Once the item becomes available, it will be added as an in stock item.
*Pre-Order items use the same queue system as Backorder items.
When will I receive a tracking number?
We provide tracking for every order. Tracking will be available once your product is shipped. All of our products are shipped out of our warehouse in Westlake Village, CA. You can track your order through your account on our website, via any of the shipping confirmation emails we've sent you, or through the Shop App.
Can I cancel my order?
Orders may be canceled any time before they ship. Once an order has shipped, it falls under our standard return policy.
