Enigmatic singer-songwriter Kathy Smith emerged from the same Orange County, California milieu as Tim Buckley and Jackson Browne, recorded two hauntingly beautiful albums for Richie Havens' Stormy Forest label, and then quietly disappeared from the scene. Originally released in 1971, KATHY SMITH 2 was her most daring and accomplished creation, an innovative fusion of psychedelic folk and jazz. Highlighted by Kathy's own exquisite compositions like "Fly off with the Wind" and "For Emile," it also includes her unique interpretations of songs by Jimmie Spheeris and Jackson Browne (the only offcially released version of "It's Taking So Long"). Her superlative voice is supported by a team of heavyweight studio musicians, among them Jan Hammer, Warren Bernhardt, Tony Levin, Jerry Jemmott, Don Alias and Jeremy Steig.
